"Mask" by Kasie Hayes

”Mask” communicates the concern, the fear and the uncertainty of the 2020 global COVID-19 pandemic. The depth of the darkness in the piece mirrors the depth of the fear most of us felt as we navigated through unfamiliar territory. The most visible portion of this work happens down its center. Here is where all of the emotion happens. The slightly furrowed brow, the mixture of solidarity and fear in the eyes, the absence and otherwise silence of the mouth - it all tells the story. This photo was taken in-home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
